WHAT IS A SYNC LICENSE?
A Synchronization (or sync) License is necessary when music covered by copyright is used in an audio visual work. This license allows the license holder to “sync” copyrighted music to visual media such as DVD.
WHAT IS A MASTER USE LICENSE?
A Master Use License is an additional license necessary for obtaining permission to use an existing recording (the Pam Andrews Music original recording) in the creation of an audio visual work such as a DVD.
DO I NEED TO PURCHASE A SYNC AND MATER USE LICENSE?
To determine, answer the following questions:
Is your church or group a member of CCLI (Christian Copyright Licensing International)?
If YES, go to answer “1” below.
If NO, go to answer “2” below.
1. If your group is a member of CCLI AND are in a CURRENT reporting period, as long as you report the use of the songs in this musical, you DO NOT need to purchase a sync and master license from us. You may recover up to $4 per audio copy and $12 per video copy.*
If your group is a member of CCLI and NOT in a current reporting period, we would ask that you purchase these licenses.
To determine if you are a member of CCLI and in a CURRENT reporting period check with your church office staff.
2. If you ARE NOT a member of CCLI, we would ask that you purchase these licenses.
